What is Starting Strength?

Luke's Barbell Club is a Starting Strength Gym, a private gym with a purpose. That purpose is to get you stronger.

Starting Strength is a training system designed for getting stronger over time using basic movement patterns-barbell exercises that use all of your body's muscle, utilized over the longest effective range of motion and loaded progressively to force the adaptations for increased strength.

Starting Strength Coach and owner Joyce Luke has helped people of all abilities get stronger safely and effectively.  Expect expert coaching, instruction and understanding of the Starting Strength method in a supportive gym complete with the finest equipment.

Barbell strength training is THE best exercise prescription for strength, health, aging, and performance. There are few things in your life that you would not want to be strong for. Like fighting illness, recovering from and preventing injury, or performing any number of daily physical and mental tasks.
